Summer Maintenance Invoice

Summer weather was delayed but then came fast!

It’s been a bit of an oddball spring so far, but that almost feels normal when we look back at the last few years. The somewhat steady snows and mostly cool nights through April kept the ground temperature low and kept most shrubs and plants in winter mode until close to May 1.

Then the change happened fast! The hotter days brought on the cycle of buds and leaves starting to form and grass growth. We’ve really seen the growth cycles kick off here in May and now most lawns are very active and growing well. Spring Services like Power Raking and early Mowing beginning in April is a great way to remind the lawn that the season is coming and cutting it prompts it to go into growth mode.

As we head into May long weekend, we’ve been finishing up the good majority of our Spring Services work. We are about to move into some more steady eavestrough cleanings, as we’ve come to realize we’ve gotten fair amounts of rain in early June for the last few years. Also within the next two weeks we will be beginning our second round of lawn fertilizations, to ensure they’ve got enough nutrients to last through their heaviest growing months!

We’ve had a few windy days too, combined with the daytime heat and sun exposure, some lawns really are in desperate need of water. We have been actively firing up sprinkler systems all throughout May and the lawns getting watered already tend to be the lawns that are looking the strongest right now. Remember that our lawn grasses tend to have very short roots, so it only takes a few days of hot/sunny weather or wind to completely dry out the top layer of soil where the lawn feeds. If you need help with your underground sprinklers or help setting up above ground, let us know!

The schedules have remained extremely full and we will continue to be booked out for most of June between the upcoming eavestroughs cleanings and lawn fertilizations, plus sneaking in any last minute bookings for Power Rakings or Aerations. Still a reminder that if you have any to-do’s on your list, please get in touch ASAP so you are not waiting over a month for help!
