March 2026 Winter Maintenance Invoice
ONLY 6 more weeks of Winter!
While the groundhog consensus was 6 more weeks of winter, we prefer to see that as a good thing! We haven’t had much winter so far, so some more moisture would definitely benefit us for the season ahead.. On the other hand, 6 more weeks of the winter like we’ve had so far wouldn’t be too bad either. We choose to believe there will be more snow, but also take advantage of whatever the season brings.
We’ve been busy and continued to get ahead of Spring/Summer by completing some early cleanings
and early projects. The ground temperatures are still cold and mostly frozen, so lawns and most plants will stay
dormant until we have nights that are regularly 5 degrees or higher. Ground temperatures are what really
controls our plants and seasonal changes. Some perennials and trees may be trying for an early start, but they
are also usually accustomed to an early freeze/weather change, especially this early in the season. Remember
that consistency and good maintenance year-over-year is crucial to building and keeping a healthy lawn longterm.
Power Raking is a service that is beneficial every few years depending on lawn conditions, removing dead and matted thatch is important for airflow but this thatch can also help to naturally feed the lawn and prevent moisture loss.. Plus if your lawn is already thin, a Power Rake may not improve its state. Core Aeration is beneficial in many ways, and a service we almost always recommend. Putting holes through the grass and root layer allows for soil expansion which encourages root growth, plus allows deeper access for seeding, watering and fertilizing. Soil Enhancement is our advanced liquid formula, designed to naturally improve moisture retention in the soil and restore vital micro bacteria’s that help to further break down latent nutrients in the soil. Shrub Pruning is almost always best done in early spring or some even over winter, we always aim to start on these heavily in March depending on weather conditions. Yard Clean-Up fee’s are considered required and allow for us to spend extra time during our first 2-3 visits in April to clean-up overwinter messes or do more particular detailing to get the property up to summer standards right away
The weather shifts and changes can be hard to keep up with, both for home-owners and for those who
provide Maintenance for a living. It’s worth repeating how much water affects your home, both controlled and
uncontrolled. Dryer hotter weather causes extreme stress to plants and aspects of home construction, where
having proper irrigation in place or good watering habits can make all the difference in the long-term
sustainability of your property. It’s becoming more popular to have a “Fire Prevention” option installed within
underground irrigations systems! Before a winter storm, ensure your drainage systems are ready to handle the
coming water and ice. Freeze/thaw cycles can dam systems, especially when dirty or damaged, and push
water and ice into places it normally wouldn’t go. At risk of too much repetition, we remind that S.O.S Exteriors
is always focused on optimizing drainage and irrigation practices around your property. For maintenance or

Spring schedules are filling, another reason why we’ve prioritized getting some head-starts. All estimates for recurring Maintenance Services have been sent, mostly matching previously accepted packages or recommendations for properties. Our 10% Early Bird Bulk Package discount ended February 15th, but you can still take advantage of 5% Bulk Split Payment Discount by paying for 50% of your summer Maintenance
by March 1st. To reduce Spring/April expenses, packages can still be set up as Level Billing to split the cost of Spring Services over the cost of your 6 months of Summer Maintenance.
