October 2024

The weather has officially changed and the heat is here! The effects it is having on lawns is pretty clear all over, especially on those that are not getting enough or any water. In this extreme heat your lawn dries out within a day or two, so it is important to make sure you are watering DEEP a couple times a week or giving your lawn fresh smaller waterings on an almost daily basis.
We are happy to help as much as possible with ensuring you can get water to your lawn, we have already been conducting some check-ups on underground systems and schedules and adjusting as needed. For home’s with above ground sprinklers and hoses, we HIGHLY recommend digital hose timers found at most hardware/department stores that can set your sprinkler up on a schedule to water at the best times and regularly so you no longer have to worry about it. We are happy to help set this up, just let us know!
As soil temperatures rise it is normal to see a change in the lawn, but good watering helps prevent “summer dormancy”. Even with a browning lawn, it is important to continue watering to lessen any permanent damage. The best time to water is when air and soil temperatures are the COOLEST, which is usually in the range of 2AM-5AM.
Please forgive our early starts at some properties now as we aim to beat the heat as much as possible. This work is already physically demanding, and the heat & sun exposure can affect even the best of us. We do our best to take care of ourselves but also ask for some patience and understanding during these extreme weather conditions. We try to rotate routes so that we are not always at one property for the first start-up and we apologize if we cause any inconvenience.
The weather seems to always be a main topic but it is obviously one of our main influences in this line of work! We hope for more steady rain falls but are now preparing for the hot and dry end of summer that had been predicted.
Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help you with your property!
