January 2026 Winter Maintenance Invoice

January 2026 Winter Maintenance Invoice
It seems we’re in for a wild winter ahead! The hefty snowfalls have been a bit of a change from the last couple years, but its only a reminder of what our winter’s were like a few years ago as well as a reminder of what may come in January thru February, which are often our snowiest and coldest times of the year.
Dealing with wind drifted snow has really slowed down our routes a few times already, and we are working to make sure we give everyone fair and proper service.
A challenge so far has been keeping up with the sudden shifts in weather and temperatures, combined with the winds and localization of the storms. The storm currently affecting parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba is seeming to mostly miss us thanks to the Lethbridge winds, but it’s a hard choice between -20 and 15cm of snow or 120km/hr winds! Ice sheets from freezing rain and freeze-thaws have made for hazardous conditions we are wanting to stay on-top of, and some areas of town are receiving significantly more snow than others during these storms. For these reasons, we again remind to always reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have and extend an apology for any weather-based inconvenience caused. All feedback helps us to be more aware of the changing needs based on weather and helps us to decide what judgement calls to make.
Our snow removal shift structure allows for some predictability and stability for the crews providing services, but doesn’t always align with the weather patterns when the snow starts at certain times or hits one part of town worse than others. Routes typically start at 3AM or 5AM with a 2CM requirement to start routes. Aside from Priority-class properties who are guaranteed Service before 7:30AM and also receive afternoon clearings when needed, the rest of the lists fall under the most efficient route based on the trucks and labour available, as well as snow load for the shift. We do rotate our route lists to ensure those who have been getting Serviced in the later half of shifts will now be Serviced earlier, and vice versa for those who have been consistently Serviced early so far this winter Season.
We managed to make progress with Eavestrough cleaning and a few leaf cleans during this break in the weather! Decoration set-ups are completed and we will be assisting with Decoration take-downs throughout January. It is not too late to get on our Decorating and/or Storage option lists for this season! It is a good time of year to ensure smoke detectors have fresh batteries as many homes have indoor Christmas trees and decorations plugged in, which can be made safer with a proper Power Bar plug-in with Internal Breaker or Surge Protector. Any exterior lighting or extension cords should be outdoor-rated and Power Bars should be protected inside a water-proof box or covering. After all the wind and starts of winter, it is always good to recheck the exterior of your home for damage to siding or roofing, as well as double-ensuring outdoor taps are OFF and relieved of pressure, and Eavestrough extensions and fully-out and functioning cleanly.
Along with exterior decorating, at this time we start reminding that we can help with small interior projects as well like decorating or junk removals, or small renovations involving drywalling and painting. These are not Services we offer during the summer months but are fully outfitted for and capable of to stay busy during the winter.
As we do close out the year and send out one of the last letters for 2025, we extend a huge thank you to everyone on our client list and everyone who has supported S.O.S Exteriors this past year. We’ve been able to be more involved in the community, and hope to continue to contribute more and display our community achievements and focus’s in the coming future. Your support helps out local families, business’s and organizations, and we can’t express enough appreciation for how far we’ve come in 9 years of business. Thank you, and wishing you all the best into 2026.
***PLEASE NOTE, Crews are OFF December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1st. Service will resume as normal after these days. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.***
